Why, Hello There, 2018!

WOW. Simply typing ‘2018’ felt so weird. I don’t know why, but I’m freaking out a bit on the inside, yet here we are. Just like last year, Roan and I chose to keep things low-key in ringing in the New Year. We’re still pretty much on “vacation mode” (albeit we didn’t travel for the holidays), so we’re not quite ready to get back into the normal groove just yet.

I love New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day because most people are hopeful and optimistic about what’s yet to come. I may not have shared it here on the blog last year, but I love coming up with a few goals (read: not resolutions) to focus on every year. Things could have been better; I could have done better, but 2017 wasn’t so bad.

Quite honestly, I’m still a little confused as we enter the New Year, so that’s where my head’s at. I know I don’t need to have anything figured out today or tomorrow or even next week, so I’m going to take it one day at a time (as I always have). I do, however, look forward to working on a few goals I’ll set for myself to achieve this year.

I know this blog post is somewhat pointless, but I just wanted to come on here to welcome y’all into the New Year! We made it to 2018, guys!🤗 Anyway, how was your holiday break? Roan and I had a wonderful time with family and friends, and I hope you did, too!

  • No pressure to set goals or resolutions if something comes to mind right away! I think that setting goals is good but ultimately if it’s something that you’re ready for and are committed to. Just enjoy the start of the new year and see where it takes you 🙂

    • That’s exactly where my head’s at at the beginning of the year. I couldn’t care less about anything else; I’m just glad I made it to the new year!

  • I’m excited to enter into 2018- much more excited that I was to welcome 2017. No rush in getting yourself situated into this year 🙂 You’ve got a loooong time to get used to the 18.
Glad you had a happy vacation! I spent NYE on the couch with the dogs, the husband, and a cup of tea!

    • Good for you, Louise! You’re right—with all that’s happening, I think it’s important to remember to take things slow every now and then. I find that the whole month of January is the time for fresh starts, so I’m holding on to that! Ha, we pretty much had a low-key start to the new year, too!

  • Happy new year, Miss Jae!

I can relate to that thing about slowly figuring 2018 out, haha. I want to write down a few goals for the year as well, but I’m not rushing it. Some ideas will surely appear along the way as we all navigate through the first quarter of the new year.

Anyway, been jumping on and off your blog for quite some time, though i’m never really an active “commenter”. But i love reading about your life updates, so please keep ’em coming! ^_^

    • Hi, Odee! Welcome, welcome to SCATTERBRAIN! I’m delighted to have you here! And I’m happy that you finally left me a comment because I’d love to know more about my readers, you know!

Yes, yes, and yes! I have thought about a few goals, but I really want to dig into what I could’ve done better last year, so when I write them down this year, they will make more sense.

Happy New Year to you, too, by the way! Here’s to wishing you all the best this year!

  • Happy New Year! I am sure that over time 2018 will seem much more real! (Haha, hopefully!).

I wish you the best for the new year! I am sure that you will be able to work everything out. Like you said, you don’t have to have a solid plan right away. You just have to do it your way. 😀

    • Happy New Year, Kassy! Hahaha I’m sure it will!

Thank you, and I wish you all the best this year, too! (Ahh, I still have to get used to calling you Kassy, and not Kya!)

  • First off, YAY. No more Disqus!

Second off, Happy New Year to you and Roan! I, too, feel that it’s weird to type 2018 instead of 2017, and in my head it just feels like the old year? I, too, spent my NYE low-key at home, and it feels wonderful. Enjoy the rest of your holiday and I wish you the best for 2018!

    • Heya, Tara! Happy New Year! Hahaha! I haven’t been using Disqus since I moved back to WordPress in April last year (whoa, “last year” seems like ages ago!).

I need to practice/get used to writing 2018 sooner than later because I sign off on documents at work all the time. Hahaha! Happy to know we’re not the only ones who spent the NYE at home! I also wish you all the best this year, my friend!

  • Happiest New Year, Jae! Looking forward to more contents and some fresh ones from you, and really hoping to meet you in person this year coz why not! haha.

    • Heya, Marj! Happy New Year! Aww I can’t promise “new” content because let’s face it—I still have stuff to write about our trips from 2016. HAHAHA! Ohh, right! Exciting year for you and Julian! Let me know if you plan on coming down here to SoCal! Wish you all the best this year!

  • Happy New Year, Ate Jae! I hope 2018 is a great and prosperous year for you and Roan! Can’t wait to read about the adventures you’ll have this year!

    • Happy New Year, Eena! Thank you, and I wish you and Chris all the best this year, too! May you enjoy your wedding preparations for next year! I hope to see you up there at your new neighborhood this year!
