Guess Who’s Back(-ish)?

Whoa, it has been a hot minute, friends! Is this the part where I greet y’all a HAPPY NEW YEAR? Does it still count if we’re six months and five days into 2019? I still can’t wrap my head around the fact that I’ve been away from this space for this long. I’ll fill you in on some life updates in a bit; this—just typing my feelings and thoughts away—feels a little strange but all too familiar if you know what I mean.

Today’s the day after 4th of July, and I’m lounging by the pool as I type this. Roan and I are currently at his cousin’s house (where we used to live!) because he needed to use their garage to get down and dirty (read: to check and fix the SUV’s brake pads), which he installed himself a few months ago. We (well, mostly Roan because I’m still at the tail-end of my “monthly visit”) also wanted to take a dip into their pool since no one’s really using it anymore (but remains very well-maintained). To escape the misery of not being able to swim, I decided to bring and fire my personal laptop up, which I haven’t done so in months, so here we are!

Let’s address the elephant in the room, so to speak.

I haven’t been anywhere. We still live in San Diego—at the same apartment we’ve lived in for four years now. I still work at the same company I started working for in June last year, but I did get promoted in April, which remains to be the highlight of my year (and career). I wish I could tell you any differently—something more exciting and eventful—but it really is the primary reason SCATTERBRAIN was put on the back burner.

One of my teammates (and good friend!) quit in February, and I pretty much took over 100% of her workload (on top of mine) since. I’ve been working my bum off to get caught up with stuff, but every time I check one thing off of my to-dos, something new comes up. It’s a vicious cycle at this point, and it’s exhausting, but I love my job (and I’m really good at it!), so despite everything, it brings me joy and fulfillment at the end of the day.

Roan is also doing great (in case you’re wondering). He, too, is thriving at his job, and is currently working on his Master’s degree. We’ve both been pretty busy these days, so we try to enjoy our time off with friends and family when we can. Balance is key, folks!

So, yes, life got in the way, but it’s also been so great that we chose (and still choose) to enjoy and make the most out of it anyway. I’ve got to admit—I missed this (and I’ve missed y’all!), but I can’t promise that I’ll be popping back in here anytime soon. TL;DR? SCATTERBRAIN isn’t really going anywhere (and so am I!). If you want to chat, or if you simply want to say hi, you know how and where to find me. Take care, and may you enjoy the rest of the holidays! Be right back.✨

  • Hi hi hi! I’ve missed your posts, but I’m about as bad on my blog these days too. I have some time to read others’ posts, but not much time to write my own. Life, ya know?
And while a lot of things might not be new with you, it’s when you have something steady and comfortable that makes life just so good… that sweet spot where you are happy and predictability is a good thing. Glad to hear you guys are doing well! And congrats on your promotion!

    • Hi, Em!! I missed y’all, too!! And I 100% agree with you, friend!! Thank you!! I truly appreciate you, Em!! You always, ALWAYS come through no matter what. Thinking of you and your beautiful little family!!♥️
